Hunter Valley Granite and Marble gives the following warranty to the purchaser in respect of stone manufacturing works for a period of twelve months. All works are manufactured and installed in accordance with industry standards.
This includes: Opening of joins and stone becoming loose, with the exception of structural building movement.
This excludes: Cracking of the stone, scratching of the stone, staining of the stone and wear and tear.
Natural stone – Granite and Marble Natural stone is a porous and permeable material allowing the penetration of liquids and other substances, therefore all natural stone supplied by HVGM is treated with a sealer called “”Dry Treat”. Dry Treat. Although designed to minimise staining it cannot be guaranteed to prevent stains in all situations. Ensure that oils and other substances are not left on the stone for lengthy periods of time as penetration of the surface may occur even though the sealer has been applied. Lighter colours are more absorbent than darker ones. Please avoid substances such as coffee, wine, lemon juice, coke and beetroot as these may affect the finished surface causing dulling or staining depending on the stone. Cleaning of the stone should only be carried out with warm and mildly soapy water and the dried with a clean dry cloth. Methylated Spirits can be used as an alternative.
Reconstituted stone – Quartz based reconstituted stone is a man made stone product. Reconstituted stone products such as Caesarstone, Quantum Quartz etc are sold as non permeable meaning they will not readily stain; hence they are not required to be sealed. Even though this may be the case it is still recommended that care be taken as on rare occasions some reconstituted stones have been known to stain with substances such as beetroot or red wine if left on for too long. Cleaning of the stone with warm soapy water or recommended cream cleansers and dried with a clean dry cloth.
Stone can withstand exposure to moderately hot temperatures, however hot temperatures and long contact with a high heat can lead to thermal shock, discolouration or damage. We strongly recommend not placing hot cooking items such as pots, electric fry pans, baking trays or similar directly on the stone. The use of a hot pad, trivets, chopping boards or similar is advised. Stone benchtops should never be stepped on or knelt on especially near the hotplate or sink edges as this may result in cracking of the benchtop. Stone benchtops will not spontaneously crack unless a force of some sort is applied and almost any cracking ever occurring is for reasons as outlined above.
Be careful of activity that may scratch benchtop surfaces, it is quite often impossible to successfully polish scratches from benchtop surfaces on site. As with cracks the only way to make the benchtop good again is by replacing it.
